ABOUT THIS LESSON

Lesson Three: Fives is the next lesson using the TRICK STRATEGY. (Color-Coding for Flipbooks & Posters = PURPLE)

Students learn two "tricks": Count by Fives and Fives Product Pattern. Skip-counting is practiced and students are also taught the concept of "half". This video also reviews the Twos facts from Lesson 2.

Students quickly build automaticity with the Divison facts from this lesson using the four challenges in this highly motivating, fast-paced activity.

Students see how closely connected the Multiplication & Division facts are! This power printable enables students to simplify the mental process of dividing by connecting to what they already know.

Logical Links (.pdf)

Students practice linking the Zeroes & Ones Multiplication facts to their Division counterparts as known multiplication facts are linked to equations with missing factors. The concept of the "missing factor" is then connected to the corresponding quotient.

Concept Builders (.pdf)

Students create fact families with the Zeroes & Ones Multiplication and Division facts.

Although students may have moved very quickly through Lessons 1 & 2, don't hesitate to spend a little extra time on Lessons 3 & 4.

Once students are comfortable with the Lesson 3 strategies, as presented in the Full Video and Quick Flick, move on to fluency building, using the Fast Facts video and Fluency Builder printable.

Suggestion: Utilize these components as frequently as necessary, until all students are able to demonstrate fluency with the Fives. THEN move on to Lesson 4.
